Shaanxi Provincial Food and Drug Administration:

Your Bureau's "Request for Instruction on Issues Related to Industrial Rosin Hair Removal" (Shaanxi Food and Drug Administration [2016] No. 32) has been received. After research, the reply is as follows:

1. According to "National Food Safety Standard Food Additive Standard (GB2760-2014)" and "Animal and Poultry Slaughter Hygiene and Quarantine Regulations (NY467-2001)", rosin glyceride is used as a depilatory agent, which can be used in livestock and poultry depilation process, industrial rosin It cannot be used for slaughtering and plucking of livestock and poultry.

2. The act of using industrial rosin to dehair meat to process braised meat should fall under Article 34 (1) of the "Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China" "Adding chemical substances other than food additives and other possible harm to human health" The behavior of “material food” shall be punished in accordance with Article 123 of the Food Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China.
